Coach Iilonga is a United States Master Swimming (USMS) Level II Swim Coach, certified swim instructor, and a coach member of the American Swim Coaches Association. Coach Iilonga has been an active endurance athlete for more than twenty-years. He has completed hundreds of roads races, including over 30 marathons, and one ultra-marathon.

Douglas enters his 9th season as team rep for AWYY Masters. Originally from New York, Doug was a national YMCA Top 16 age group swimmer with Dutchess County (NY) YMCA Devilfish under Larry Collins. He swam collegiately at Florida A&M University, earning honors as Southern States Conference (SSC) and Northeast Conference (NEC) All-Academic Team, SSC and NEC Championship Finalist, university record holder in the 200-yard backstroke for three seasons. As a Masters swimmer, he is a USMS Top 10 swimmer and enjoys competing in backstroke, fly and mid distance free events. Douglas is a USMS Level 3 Certified Coach, USMS and YMCA certified official.
